Write a Python function to sum all the numbers in a list

Using sum() method

a = [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
res = sum(a)

print(res)

Output: 15

Using while() loop

total = 0
ele = 0

list1 = [11, 5, 17, 18, 23]

while ele < len(list1):
    total = total + list1[ele]
    ele += 1

print(total)

Output: 74

Recursive way

list1 = [11, 5, 17, 18, 23]

def sumOfList(lst, size):
    if size == 0:
        return 0
    else:
        return lst[size - 1] + sumOfList(lst, size - 1)

# Driver code
total = sumOfList(list1, len(list1))

print(total)

Output: 74
